Abstrak

On behalf of the entire Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (YEL) team, I am delighted to share our 2023 Annual Report. This year marked significant progress in our mission to protect orangutans and their rainforest habitat.
Our reintroduction program flourished with 15 new orangutans joining the wild population at Jantho. We empowered local communities through beekeeping initiatives, fostering sustainable livelihoods while preserving precious ecosystems.
Research remained central to our work, with groundbreaking studies on orangutan populations and innovative use of bioacoustics technology.
While our rescue and rehabilitation efforts continued, the tragic loss of Tami underscored the urgent need to combat illegal wildlife trade.
Conservation of the Batang Toru Ecosystem and public education through our Orangutan Haven remained key priorities. Our eco-lodges and eco-farming initiatives promoted sustainable tourism and agriculture.
We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Together, we are building a brighter future for orangutans and their habitat.
